“Don’t quote me on this…”

Daily writing prompt
What is your favorite quote?

I love this question, as writers, as human beings, this is a question that should open our soul. It’s not simply a question asking us what our favourite combination of words are, its a question that stretches deep into our psyche. It asks us, who are you? what is your art? your struggle? your philosophy? What do you hold close? What terrifies you?

Quotes can bring comfort when the world is dark. They can bring joy and celebration in times of triumph and beauty. They can sooth pain, or they can bring sorrow. Quotes are whatever you need them to be, a medicine, or a poison, a enhancer of emotion.

I have a favourite quote-person, if that is such a thing, and although he does not hold top spot for favorite quote, he does have some bangers.

Friedrich Neitzche, has some of the powerful quotes every written.

  1. “To live is to suffer, to survive is to find meaning in the suffering”
  2. “Those that are seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music”
  3. “There are two types of people in the world, those who want to know, and those who want to believe”
  4. “I was in darkness, but I took three steps and found myself in paradise. The first step was a good thought, the second, a good word; and the third, a good deed”.
  5. “Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into the abyss, the abyss with gaze back into you”.

So we do not linger on some other great quotes, I shall now reveal my favorite quote of all time.

“Waste no more time arguing about what a good man should be. Be one.”

Being a good person is not subjective. We all know what good is, we all know what evil is. Do not argue over these facts, do, and do it now.
