Tired of the Circus: The Age of Psychological Warfare.

Crossing the line – Roger Tucker

We are here! Next stop, a third world war! We hope you enjoyed the ride, see you next time.

There is no hiding the reality of the world we live in today. I tried to hide behind eloquent explanations of historical context, and level headed reasoning for so long. The truth is, we left the station and are about to embark to the final stop of this reset.

I am sick and tired of this world. I am sick and tired of seeing the same headlines over and over again, how the media manipulates us into thinking black is white, and good is evil, evil is evil and evil is good.

Psychological warfare is exhausting. We all try to live reasonable, good lives. To treat others how we wish to be treated. To love others. All a while, we are told it’s Muslims, its Jews, its black people, its brown people, its the Chinese, the Russians. It’s poverty, its the Devil, it’s the gays. It’s immigrants. The circle of blame is never ending.

Politics used to be so… boring, so adult and mondain. Now its a circus show.

“Tune in to todays carnival. Tonight’s show includes… everything’s fucked, and it’s their fault”.

Smoke and mirrors. This is how it must have felt in Nazi Germany just before Hitler was appointed chancellor. Pure, bombardment of psychological warfare on the native Germans.

I’ve never blamed the Germans for Hitlers rise. I imagine they must have felt somewhat what we feel like here in the UK. Blinded by choice.

Either you are a German, proud and strong. Someone who loves their country and wants to see the best in it, and to contribute to it.

Or

You are the enemy. You are a communist, a Jew loving traitor, and not worthy of a German name.

I feel the same. I feel that whenever illegal immigration is mentioned I have to pick a side. I can’t be both patriotic and compassionate. I can’t be concerned for my country and the safety of my family and push against fascism.

Whenever Israel is brought up in conversation. I can’t defend the rights of Palestinian people, and criticise Hamas. I can’t condemn the 7th of October, and call Israel’s bombardment a act of terror, or genocide. I can’t argue for the right of Israel to exist, and oppose its rapid expansion. I can’t criticise Islam, and be on the side of Palestine.

It’s a very ending game of cat and mouse. We are throw off balance by loud voices who shout over any reasonable pushback.

Some might say I am just a coward. That I am unable to commit to a side, in case I be wrong. They said this about conscientious objectors in the First World War (NOT COMPARING ME TO A CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTOR). If you don’t want to fight, then you must be a coward, that you must be German synthetiser.

Now, if I hesitate at the question of Israel. I am a Zionist. If I suggest that Palestinians are entitled to their homeland, I am a terrorist sympathiser. There is no middle ground, it was given up for clicks.

I am asked regularly by family and friends if me and my partner will be having children. Once I was certain that I would one day be a good father. Now, I wonder if being a good father is to not be a father at all. Is this world going to allow my children to live in peace. Free from persecution or to persecute.

Will they be slaves to barbarous masters, or would they themselves be the masters?

For thousands of years the world has been such a dark, barbaric place. We were told that all came to and end after the Second World War, that the dream had been realised and it was in fruition. Was this a lie… A dream told to stop us realising that we were speed running our very destruction?

I am tired of it all, but my brain won’t let me rest until I know the truth… Are our minds even supposed to be able to process all this information? are we supposed to think about these massive geo-political issues? Weren’t we living in small hunter gatherer tribes for the majority of our existence? Were we ever supposed to comprehend 8 billion people and trillions of moving parts?
