I am so excited to announce the big Uncharted Thoughts project. While we have a lot of projects on the go for 2026, as seen here, there is a major project in the making.
I have hinted towards this project throughout my regular posts, but I have yet to really explain to you what this project is.
It feels at times that if I am to even whisper the idea, there will be a copycat out there that might steal the idea, or that if I were to speak it out loud some divine force will find a way to intervein in its creation.
Yet, here I am, not whispering my plans, but publishing it to the whole world to read.
Remember, the first 100 subscribers to sub to Uncharted Thoughts will be gifted the first copy of this project for free… So yet subing.
In the year 2029, I plan on having the first of many Uncharted Thoughts travel books published. I have yet to confirm a deadline, but a plan has been outlined and the smallest of cogs are rotating.
We are certain in delivering a high-quality, unique travel book that will produce incredible photography, high quality story telling, and of course, first hand professional writing.
While this blog is the foundation for all that has been, and is to come, I can promise that the quality of this book will surpass anything yet produced here.
This book will look great anywhere, be it the armchair of a university professor, or in the dorm room of a student. On the bookshelf of a home library or, on the coffee table in front of the Tele.
Lets get into the synopsis of the project, but remember… subscribe for a first copy posted to you sometime in 2029.
So, the book. Each book, yes there will be multiple should the first one sell well, will have 8 chapters. Each chapter will contain a county, the chapters will have a structure similar from the others.
Although this is a travel book, it will be written in a unique fashion, a mould between historical reading, journalism and story telling.
There will be no other travel book that rivals it uniqueness and, styling. Sleek, stylish with original photography and bazar storytelling. A snapshot of the nation, to show culture, history and nature, as well as having the input of locals.
I don’t want to spoil too much, neither risk others stealing my idea, but an entire section of each chapter will introduce the voices of natives.
I do have some tweaking to do, I want to make sure the content is fluid, and that there is streamline story telling, academic accuracy and, of course hard hitting journalism all rolled into one, with some fantastic photography.
What needs to be done.
Well, this is the ultimate question. Where does a amateur historian, qualified journalist, unpaid writer, poor, but enthusiastic adventurer begin on this quest?
With zero experience in publishing, very limited income and even less expendable cash, minor photography skills and a loose three year plan. I have to learn, and quickly.
I need financing, although I want the first book to be somewhat self financed. I don’t expect the financing to pay for my travel expenses, I’d rather the editing, equipment and publication and distribution be paid for by and financial support. Marketing, social media and other elements of publication is included in this.
Quality comes first, the entire selling point of this published works stands on its uniqueness, esthetic, and the highest standard of writing possible for the audience it is intended for.
Second, comes marketing and distribution. I want to sell enough of these to make a second, third, fourth and maybe fifth book. While I enjoy profiting from my work, book one, most likely Asia, needs to lead the foundation for the others. Longevity and legacy.
Finally, comes income. In ten years, I want this to be something I am proud of, something that will outlive me, and potentially be passed down to whomever wishes to join the Uncharted Family.
There is a lot in the way of this dream coming true. Most of it being financial burdens, but one thing is for sure. For the last four years, this plan has been sat in the back of my head, waiting.
I have made small, significant steps towards its creation, be it my masters in journalism, this blog and the work that has gone into creating it, and the research that has gone into each chapter, and segment of the books interior.
There are so many barriers in the way, and so much time between now and its publication, but I am determined, like never before.
I was told when leaving school I wouldn’t amount to much more than flipping burgers. I left with 2 GCSE’s and a chip on my shoulder. Now, I have a degree in History, a masters in journalism, 30+ countries under my belt, a dissertation and major project that took me to the other side of the planet interviewing some of the most incredible people. I have walked 1100 miles for a breast cancer charity. Climbed the three peaks for veterans, and witnessed life’s highs and lows with determination and humility.
I will publish this book, I am more determined to do this than anything else before it.
If you wish to help with this project, please subscribe. If I reach 100 subscribers this year, I’d have completed the first of my 5 step plan for 2026. There is a free book in it for you in 2029.
