
On August 15th 2021, the capital city of Afghanistan, Kabul, was captured by the militant religious zealots known as the Taliban.
After a 20 year conflict, NATO forces left Afghanistan and it’s people to a fate often described as ‘worse than death’.
Last week the ICC (International criminal court) warranted the arrest of Hibatullah Akhundzada, the supreme leader of the Taliban and Abdulhakim Haqqani, the chief of justice.
The week prior, Russia became the first country to legitimise the Taliban, opening the first Taliban embassy in the world. This sparked international outrage and left a lot of us pondering over the future of this evil regime.
As the dust began to settle, yesterday, the United Kingdom released a devastating secret that will have the world, and its citizens questioning its leadership, and military capability for years to come.
A Royal Marine, who remains unnamed, accidently leaked a secret document which included thousands of Afghan citizens and military personnel that helped the British and NATO forces before the 2021 take over of Afghanistan by the Taliban.
The Taliban, who claim to have had this list since 2022, naming it the ‘kill list’. Have, according to numerous courses provided online but have yet to be verified, systematically hunted down, and killed many of those that have been unable to escape the country.
It is without a doubt, one of the most catastrophic data leaks in memory.
Next month, August the 15th, marks 4 years since the capture of Kabul by the Taliban. A day of great pain, and discomfort for those that lived through this barbaric and undemocratic succession of evil.
Organisations such as the Afghanistan Women’s Justice Movement and the Lantern of Freedom Movement are urging the fellow international community to preform a social media black-out in solidarity to the struggle for human rights and, for the international community to continue to starve the Taliban from legitimisation.
