Navigating Political Labels in a Divided Society.

I mentioned in my last post (HERE) that social media is a gateway drug into extremist politics. I mentioned it’s ability to warp the minds of most into corrupted voids of hate and anger. If you lean on the conservative side, you are more likely to slip into ‘far right’ politics, if you are a lefty in nature, you’ll slip further into ‘far left’ politics. Its the nature of ideologies. If, however you are rather central, you are in a danger zone, Nazism is a short video away, and communist dictatorship is but a statistic and a university lesson from your reality.

I want us to discuss here something I think we often overlook. I do not believe and neither should you, that if you lean in a direction, you are far this or far that. If you believe that marriage is between a man and a woman, so be it. That doesn’t mean that you hate gays, or you wish ill will on them. If you believe that marriage is equal across all, that shouldn’t make you a globalist woke mind virus type.

I believe marriage should be for all willing, over the age of 18 years of age consenting adults. I do not however think that we should open the boarders to mass illegal immigration. I think that religion is, unfortunately, a part of our society, and people have the right to practice it without hinderance as long as it respects the law of the land and it not introduced into education and advertised. I strongly believe religion should stay away from politics, as should all identify politics, transgenderism, homosexuality, all that stuff.

Where would you place me then? Am I a Nazi because I believe that illegal immigrant should be deported before they arrive on sovereign soil? But I also think that religion should be practiced freely, without hinderance, under the law of the land. I think sexual predators should be given harsher sentences, anti social behaviour and drug use will destroy our society and the cultures of nations. I also think that everyone has the right to life, yet agree that abortion is the right of the woman, not the man or the government. Am I a globalist because I believe in international cooperation is for the good of man kind, that trade, education and military organisations such as NATO, are beneficial to the security of the planet? What about the fact I believe national heritage is something that should be promoted, honoured and cherished by a nations people. Holidays for St Georges Day and for religious purposes are beneficial and creates wider communities within a nation?

Too often do we label each other political aligences without understanding in full the opinion of others. I do it all the time, I struggle to understand those that march for Palestine, while waving a LGBTQ+ flag? Or those in Tommy Robinsons crew that support Trump… well I guess there is a link there, but you get my point of view.

We need to stop looking at politics as such a two dimensional way. I am socially liberal, but economically conservative. I am progressive in terms of human freedoms but not when it comes to the protection of our nations shores and those that live within it. Law to me is key to a civilised society, economic growth is paramount and stand fa rover the whims of identity politics.

So, next time someone has an opinion you do not share. Remember that they are not a ‘Nazi’ or a ‘Commie’… We are seeking freedom from oppression and from hardship and war. We are all trying to achieve the goal of a civilised land, that is safe and worthy of being called great. We just have different ways of obtaining that goal…
