Longing for a life of simplicity.

It is not that I do not wish for a life well spent. Rather I believe we are told that a life well spent is one of grander and luxury. That to have lived a life worthy of its meaning, we must have all that the world possesses, instead of realising that we are possessed to it.

I have been thinking a lot about this now that I am so close to the end of my masters and quickly passing the twilight hours of my twenties into a new decade of my existence.

We have been told, as a generation, that the most important aspects of our lives are material. That a big house means success. That a nice car measures you are a man of quality and deserving of respect. That a jet or boat means you have lived above and beyond the expectations of a human being. That somehow the $1 million dollars in your bank, the diamond on your finger, the gold on your chain, is a symbol of wealth.

When, perhaps this modern world of fast pushing paper and electronical vibrations is a lie, and the ideologies pushed.

True wealth, may lay in the fact that we can not take these rings of gold and houses of space with us. That our connection to this planet is not carrying around pockets of green paper, but holding those we love dearest. To watching the circle of life take hold of those around us, and watching the stages of it take us as well.

To hold diamonds is one thing, but to hold stardust is another. And we are made from the atoms of the first stars.
